Commentary
And when the act of circling with the vessels is ongoing, it is expressed in the present tense. It is also constructed for the passive form because it is the intended meaning absolutely without any specific type. So He said: ﴿And they will be served﴾, meaning from any type it may be, due to the abundance of servants ﴿upon them with vessels﴾, the plural of vessel, as a reward for their circling around the needy with what is suitable for them.
And when the aim of this Surah is to frighten the reproached person in the Surah of Resurrection from disbelief, and the human being is the lowest rank of those addressed in the levels of speech, He limited the encouragement regarding the honor of the vessels to silver without mentioning gold, which is mentioned in Fatir and Al-Hajj, where it is expressed in them with people. Perhaps this is for one type, and that is for a higher type, with the possibility of gathering and punishment. As for those who are higher than these two types among the believers and those above them, they have what is beyond these two jewels from the jewels that no eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor has it crossed the heart of a human being. So He said: ﴿Of silver﴾, meaning that is its name, but as for the reality, where is the Pleiades from the hand of the one who partakes?
And when He gathered the vessels, He specified and said: ﴿And cups﴾, the plural of cup, which is a vessel without a handle, making it easy to drink from it from every position, so there is no need to turn it when partaking. ﴿They were﴾, meaning those cups are in a state that is inherent to them ﴿of crystal﴾, meaning they were in the quality of crystal, in clarity, delicacy, transparency, radiance, and brightness, the plural of qārūrah, which is what the drink and similar things are contained in, from every thin, clear vessel. It is said that it is specific to glass.
