Commentary
And when the answer was: [the Day will be] like this and that, he turned away from it to what resulted from his distancing it because it is more terrifying. He said, indicating the destruction of the world due to the detachment of man from his dwelling and what he is accustomed to from his conditions, so it will be a more terrifying passage by the means of verification because it is its place: ﴿So when the sight is dazzled﴾, meaning it will be fixed and will not blink from the horror of what it sees - this is according to the reading of Nafi' with the opening, and it is an indication of the beginning of his state. The reading of the majority with the kasra indicates its end, for its meaning is: he was bewildered and astonished and overwhelmed, from the dazzling of the man - when he looks at the lightning and his sight is taken away and it disperses like something in a liquid when its container opens, as indicated by the reading of balaqa from balaqa the door - when it opens, and balaqa the door is like nasara: he opened it completely, or strongly as in ablaqahu, then it burst forth, and balaqa as in fariha: he was bewildered - this is what is said in the dictionary.
