Commentary
And when he attributed the reckoning to the type, because among them are those who say: We will not be resurrected because we have disintegrated and perished, he responded to him: ﴿Yes﴾ meaning: We will certainly gather his bones and the gathering of his parts, for we are capable of detailing his bones and breaking them apart after their rejoining when they were a single drop, because whoever is capable of detailing is capable of gathering and connecting while we are ﴿Capable﴾ meaning: due to the greatness we possess ﴿to do so﴾.
And when the equalization of the small is more difficult, he said: ﴿We will equalize his fingers﴾ meaning: his fingers [or -] phalanges, which are the small bones in his hands and feet, each one being the length of a finger or less. He specified them because they are his extremities and the last part that completes his creation by gathering some of them to each other as they were before death, equally. The larger ones (p-89) are primarily because they are clearer, and there is no difference between our equalization of that from the drop and our equalization of it from the dust. It will not be equalized while it is the mold of the body except by equalizing what is upon it of the covering of flesh, sinew, and skin as the observer knows it. So, the equalization of the fingers is a metaphor for the equalization of all the structure, as if it were said to you: Can you compose this bitter cucumber? You would say: Yes, and can you compose the mustard seed? Along with what is understood from its specification as a reminder of what is in it of the exquisite craftsmanship that results from it what it has of subtle benefits, or that we equalize it now and gather it as it was in its state of being a drop from the gathering before its splitting and separation until it becomes like the hoof of the camel. For indeed, the one who is capable of detailing the fingertips until they are prepared for delicate actions is capable of gathering them, so that benefit will be removed from it. And whoever is capable of detailing water after [its mixing -] and gathering it after its separation is capable of gathering dust after its dispersion. And however it is, it is a reminder to contemplate the finesse of detailing the fingertips and the exquisite craftsmanship that necessitates the conclusion that their Creator is capable of all that He wills. It is said in the dictionary: the fingers: the fingers or their extremities. And the phalanx - the weight of a bustard: small bones the length of a finger or less in the hand and foot.
