Commentary

And when their distancing from the Day of Resurrection was either due to distancing the ability to restore the parts after their separation or due to distancing the ability to distinguish its soil from the soil of the earth after mixing, and the distinction of the sperm into male and female is sufficient in refuting both distancings, He said: ﴿So He made﴾ meaning because of the sperm ﴿from it﴾ meaning this flowing water or the created formed being, and they are one thing ﴿the two mates﴾ meaning the two companions that one cannot benefit from one of them except by the other. Then He clarified them by saying: ﴿the male and the female﴾ and they are, as you know, distinct in nature, differing in the characteristics of their organs, tools, and possessions. Just as He did not leave the sperm until He made it a clinging substance, nor did He leave the clinging substance until He made it a chewed lump, nor did He leave the chewed lump until He made it bones, and He did not leave the bones until He made them into another creation, to complete the creation for the sake of the complete apparent wisdom, and He distinguished it into male and female. The distinction of what is suitable for the male and what is suitable for the female is more intense and hidden than the distinction of the soil of the dead from the soil of the earth. So likewise, the body is not left after its death until He restores it, then resurrects it to the end of that for the sake of the complete hidden wisdom, which is the recompense and the wisdom that is the specialty of the King.
