Commentary

And when man acts according to what is "in his nature" of deficiencies, he becomes heedless of what he was created for. Thus, his darkness accumulates upon him, and he distances himself from knowledge of that, either due to ignorance of wisdom or ignorance of ability. May He, glorified and exalted is He, have mercy on him by reinstating the proof of resurrection with a matter that combines ability and wisdom. This is because it is not permissible in the mind of a rational person that a creator creates something and leaves it to be lost while He is wise or a ruler. So how about the Most Wise of the wise and rulers? He said, denying his assumption that He, glorified and exalted is He, neglects it while He knows His precise creations in it. He affirms the conditions of its beginning, which does not allow for the denial of its resurrection, for it is a clear indication that there is no obstacle to it at all. Omitting the letter 'n' of existence indicates that the matter in this ultimate result is constrained by the least thing that can be dispensed with, due to the dislike of prolongation from the one who has been admonished for what he was advised for, leading to his destruction. And it is an indication of the lowliness of his origin and his insignificance: "Did not man be a drop?" meaning, man is "a very insignificant thing" "from a sperm" meaning, the water from the loins of the man and the ribs of the woman is intended and predetermined by Allah for trial and testing. Its example is the mortality which is death. "He caused" meaning, Allah caused man to experience the extraction of it by what He has instilled in him of desire and made for him from the spirit which He has made easy for him to fulfill his desire from it, until the time of pouring it into the womb [it poured -] from him without his choice, until it seems as if he has no action [in it -] at all. And for this reason, the action was attributed to what has not been named its doer.
