And when this is the ultimate degree of wickedness, and the people of man love it when it comes to them, especially when he is in this state among most people, he informed of what is truly appropriate to be said to him in the context of 'the greeting of his people' from the great threat, so he said: ﴿Woe to you﴾ meaning: may Allah bring upon you what you dislike. And the lam (the letter 'L') entered for additional emphasis and specification. The emphasis was further increased by his saying: ﴿So woe﴾ meaning: may Allah test you with calamity after calamity. And this emphasis conveyed a hint that he deserves it throughout the ages. So he said, indicating with a tool of delay to the enormity of what he has committed and the strength of his deserving this emphasis:
