Commentary
And when he negated good deeds from him, he affirmed for him evil deeds and said: "But" (p-112) meaning he acted contrary to belief by saying: "He lied" meaning about what was brought to him from Allah and "He turned away" meaning he acted contrary to the prayer which is a connection between the created and the Creator. He exerted himself in opposition to what his original, upright nature calls him to, which is to turn away from obedience, from prayer and others, until that became his habit. Thus, obedience no longer occurred to him after that, due to the death of the original nature and the life of the commanding soul that incites to evil. And this is not a repetition because the absence of belief does not necessitate denial.
