Commentary

And when the question was about the reason for this stability, he said, beginning anew and establishing the action, for the one who reveals is merely the uncovering of secrets, not being one who assists in revealing. And to indicate the ease of that upon Him, glorified and exalted is He, is that whoever has urged him to that action, it is occurring regardless of who it is: ﴿He will be informed﴾ meaning he will be informed with a great and thorough informing ﴿On that Day﴾ [meaning -] when this greatest earthquake occurs ﴿For what he has brought forth﴾ meaning from his great deeds ﴿And delayed﴾ meaning in the beginning of his life and its end - a metaphor for thoroughness or for what he has brought forth and preferred over others, whether it is the law or desire, or for what he has done during his lifetime and for what he has delayed in his actions to hasten death away from him, so he will be informed of what he used to do of his hopes if he had extended his term, or what he has brought forth is what he has done himself and what he has delayed is what he has legislated and the people acted upon after him (p-95) of good or evil - this was said by Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, and Al-Ghazali followed this in the third chapter of the book of transactions from Al-Ihya.
