And when that day was the day of the cessation of means, he said, negating what was asked of him with the tool of deterrence: ﴿No﴾. That is, it is not said this, for there is no way for its meaning to exist, and its meaning is ﴿No refuge﴾, that is, no shelter, no stronghold, and no place of refuge or reliance. The fact that this is from the words of a human being indicates a return from his nature to his intellect, which is more settled and more indicative of the horror, because he does not understand that after he asked about the great horror, he looked at the entirety of the matter and realized that there is no way out whatsoever. So he said, expressing with the comprehensive tool of deterrence.
