And when the position is for warning, and whoever rejects the commands is a disbeliever, and whoever is negligent of them neither obeys nor thanks, he warned against laziness regarding them by mentioning what is for the disbeliever in it. So he said, causing to arise from that a motivation for acquiring good deeds without laziness or hesitation, reminding that the King has taken the horn and is leaning with His forehead in anticipation of the command to blow. Indicating by the construction for the action to its insignificance to Him and its lightness upon Him, announcing with the tool of realization that it must certainly occur: ﴿So when it is blown﴾ meaning he blew and sounded with intensity and firmness and penetration and severity ﴿in the horn﴾ meaning the horn which Israfil, peace be upon him, is now holding and is listening in anticipation of the command to blow in it for the Day of Resurrection. It is permissible that the days in which He judges with humiliation upon the disbelievers, like the Day of Badr and the Conquest and others, are intended as the Hour and the Resurrection have been made a metaphor for death. He, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "Whoever dies, his Resurrection has occurred." He expressed it with the blowing as an indication that in its intensity it is like the blowing in the backbone, so there will be a tremendous sound from it. The essence of blowing is striking, which is the cause of the sound, so it is the most severe of those who warned you for the fear of the abode of destruction. There, the souls will be returned to their bodies, and the people will be resurrected and will rise from their graves like one soul. You will see the consequence of patience, and your enemies will see the consequence of arrogance. The expression in it is in the form of exaggeration, and He made it an active subject like a spy, indicating the increase of greatness until it is as if He is the doer in a form that is in the utmost severity and strength. The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, warned his companions, may Allah be pleased with them, against blowing in the horns and its proximity, and they said: "How should we say, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Say, 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the Best Disposer of Affairs.'" It is permissible that the causation is from the command to be patient, meaning be patient, for we will surely take revenge for you on that day with what pleases your eye, so it will be a consolation for him, blessings and peace be upon him, and a threat to them.
