Commentary
And when it was in the utmost ease and sweetness for everyone who knows it in one of its aspects, and Allah, glorified and exalted is He, had created the powers and destiny, and made for the servant a choice, He said, causing it to be a place for remembrance: "So whoever wills" meaning to remember Him, "let him remember Him." Thus it is established in his heart, and he knows its meaning and adorns himself with it. No one can say that it is difficult in composition, greatly complex, or hard to understand. It requires a great effort and long practice to extract meanings from it, so I am excused for refraining from it. Rather, it is like the Euphrates river; whoever wills may draw from it, for it was addressed to an unlettered nation that has no practice in any of the sciences. Therefore, it is easy in its wording and meaning to the utmost ease, even though one cannot reach its depths nor aspire to debate any trace of its effects. Rather, the more a person reflects upon it, the more meanings it increases.
