And when He stripped them of the adornment of the friends of Allah, He established for them the adornment of the wretched by corrupting the power of speech, uniting saying with action. They said: "And we were" meaning by what He created us upon of evil, "engaging" meaning we produce the speech that is not in its proper places, and we have no knowledge of it, producing the walking [from the one who is wading in a flood of water] "with those who engage" whereby this became for us a firmly established description, so we say in the Qur'an: Indeed, it is magic, and indeed, it is poetry, and indeed, it is sorcery, and other than this - from the falsehoods. We do not shy away from anything of that, nor do we stand with reason, nor do we return to authentic transmission. Let those who hasten to speak in all that they ask about from the types of knowledge without verifying their status [from] here.
