And when the longing occurred for some of what he opposed with the verses, he said, clarifying that and affirming the removal of the wise from what he did due to his distance from the truth and the knowledge of every person of understanding that it is a lie: "Indeed, this obstinate one thought," meaning he repeated his thought and turned it, following his desire in order to find something by which he could attack the Qur'an. "And he determined," meaning he made a determination regarding the matters by which he could attack it, protecting it in himself to know which of them is closer to acceptance.
