Commentary

And when the estimation was that he certainly longs for that because wealth and status draw honor and greatness with the least effort, this is the known and familiar custom. He resumed his reprimand from that with the totality of reprimands: as a sign from the signs of Prophethood, and a decisive proof of the validity of the message. He said what cannot be said by anyone else, glorified and exalted is He, because although there is no hesitation in it nor fabrication, it matched reality. He did not increase anything after that, rather he remained in decline until he perished, and the words of your Lord were completed in truth and justice; there is no changer of His words. "No!" meaning, by Our might and majesty, there will be no increase for him beyond that at all. As for the decline, he will see if he continues in his denial; let him refrain from this longing, and let him be deterred and return, for it is pure foolishness and mere adornment, and absolute delusion. When this deterrence compelled him, there must be submission and sincere faith from one who has not been overtaken by deprivation. He attributed it to him by saying, confirming their denial and obstinacy regarding the resurrection: "Indeed, this described one was of a character that was as if it were an innate quality for him, and a nature that he cannot detach from. "The signs of Our Lord" in accordance with their greatness, especially since they are a guide to monotheism, not to other doubts that lead to polytheism. "Obstinate" means one who is exceedingly obstinate in a way that his obstinacy does not prepare for anything else due to its increased ugliness as obstinacy. Obstinacy, as Al-Malawi said, is when one is great in self or hardened in nature or fierce in morals or has madness in mind. All of this was gathered in Iblis, for he was created from fire. And it is by its nature dry and lacking in obedience. Its reality is a deviation from the straight path, and a transgression of the limit with insistence and adherence. From it comes the opposition to the truth while knowing that it is the truth.
