Commentary
And when this was a metaphor for the abundance of provision and the greatness of status, and when one who has been granted wealth, children, and status desires to complete that with preservation and ease, he said, appealing by reminding of His blessings: ﴿And I prepared﴾, meaning by graduality and emphasis ﴿for him﴾, that is, I made easy and facilitated in leadership by gathering for him, in addition to the ownership of tangible things, the ownership of meanings from which are the hearts. I prolonged his life, removed from him the barriers to a prosperous life, and provided him with the means of prestige until the people submitted to that. He remained in his land, secure, with the elders returning to his opinion. Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: I expanded for him what was between Yemen and Sham, and I completed for him from the happiness of this world that which necessitated his uniqueness in his time among his family and clan, to the extent that he was called the Unique and the Flower of Quraysh. He did not abandon this great blessing: [and - ] he confirmed that with his saying: ﴿As a preparation﴾.
