Commentary
And when the oppressor for man is the means by which wealth has tightened its circle, he said: "And I have made for him" [meaning] - by means that I alone have created, with no strength or power from him, as evidenced by the fact that others are stronger than him in body and heart, and broader in thought and mind, yet he is lesser than him in that. "Wealth that is extended" means abundant, vast, growing [very much] - general for all times of its existence. The intended meaning is as when Al-Walid ibn Al-Mughira came, Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: He had between Mecca and Ta'if camels, houses, livestock, gardens, and servants and clients.
