Commentary

And when the decree was: the virtue of each of the two groups is far from the other, until they distanced themselves from the prophetic laws. They believed in what is not permissible to believe in, such as denial and belief in nature. The matter remains as such: wombs push forth and the earth swallows, and there is no messenger to guide them, nor resurrection for the earth upon its Creator. Their words confirm in the reading of the broken form, indicating the appearance of the signs of resurrection. It is hardly believable that anyone would deny it, warning that desires and delusions may coincide with a great multitude. This encourages the guided one not to feel lonely on the path of guidance due to the few who tread it, nor to be deceived by the paths of ruin due to the multitude of the doomed. "And that they" meaning humans, if they are addressing the jinn, and the jinn if they are addressing humans, "thought" meaning either the jinn or the humans thought a thought that they were not certain of, and the thought may be correct or incorrect, and it is mostly incorrect. "As you thought" meaning, O jinn or humans. The meaning in the reading of the open form is: and it was revealed to me that humans or jinn thought. They blocked the two objects of the verb 'thought' with their saying: "that" meaning that the great matter "will not" confirmed the indication of their strong denial of that. "Resurrect" and they indicated the error of this thought by expressing with grandeur, saying: "Allah" meaning the One who has complete encompassing knowledge and power. "One" meaning after his death, for what Iblis has confused them with until they saw as good what is not good, or any of the messengers who would remove the blindness of ignorance and what humans have from the deception of the jinn for them, and other than that from misguidance. It has become evident in the Qur'an that this thought is false and that there must be resurrection in both matters, for it is the wisdom of the King and the specialty of the King.
