Commentary
And when it was known that this is something that has no duality in it, and that the ranks below the rank of His nobility, glorified is He, are very numerous due to His absolute exaltation, and that what follows it has the ruling of its nobility and reality. The first of this communication from Him, glorified is He, is without an intermediary. Then the communication with the intermediary is His honorable angels from Him. He excluded from 'a refuge' by which there is no refuge or escape from You except to You. So flee to Allah. He said: 'Except a communication,' meaning it will be communicated to me, 'from Allah,' meaning the One who encompasses everything in power and knowledge. However, due to the vastness of His mercy, He conducts matters according to what they are accustomed to, in that He does not take anyone except with a proof they acknowledge as a proof. And when He clarified the first rank which is the highest, He followed it with the one that follows it and said: 'And His messages,' which were revealed to me through the king. For indeed, I receive that in the right manner by preserving it and acting upon it, and that will be a protection from every evil in this world and the Hereafter.
And when the estimation was made to clarify that Allah honored the messengers by granting them greatness from His greatness, He made their disobedience His disobedience. Thus, the recompense for whoever disobeys them is the recompense for whoever disobeys Him, glorified and exalted is He, because they only speak by His command. So whoever obeys Allah and His messenger, then for him is the paradise of bliss wherein they will be eternally happy. He followed that with His saying: 'And whoever disobeys Allah,' meaning the One who has all greatness, 'and His messenger,' who concluded prophethood and messengership, and made his message encompassing all of His creation in monotheism or otherwise, in a manner of denial. 'Then for him,' meaning specifically, 'is the fire of Hell,' meaning that which will meet him with frowning and wrath. And when He expressed in the singular, looking at the word 'whoever,' because it is more explicit for each individual, He expressed in the plural, carrying on its meaning because it is more indicative of the general humiliation. He said: 'Abiding therein,' and He affirmed the meaning and established it for the one who claims cessation by saying: 'Forever.' As for the one who claims that it burns and that its punishment is sweetness, there is no one more deluded than him except for whoever follows him in his misguidance and error. And they have no refuge except the sword in this world and punishment in the Hereafter by what they have called sweetness, and they are heading towards it and will be held accountable for it.
