Commentary
And when the one who thinks may hasten to act based on his assumption, and may not, they clarified that their intention by it is knowledge. They hastened to act upon what they were called to, so they said, confirming what the jinn have of refusal and difficulty: "And indeed, when we heard" meaning from the Prophet ﷺ "the guidance" meaning the Qur'an, which has in its complete description of clarity and calling to good, what justifies it being called the very guidance: "We believed in it" meaning without any pause at all, acting upon what it has of this great description.
And when the estimation was: "So we believed because of our faith that led us to it, the preservation of the heavens from inflicting harm upon us, for the completeness of His power over us, which guided us to it, prevented us from listening with guarding," they caused their saying, acknowledging their inability to resist the threat from the king, seeking to fortify themselves by His protection and clinging to His rope: "So whoever believes" meaning establishes the reality of faith and continues to renew it every moment.
And when they understood that His calling to Him and His clarification of the path, along with His complete power, is indeed from the generality of His kindness and mercy, they mentioned the description of goodness for the increase of encouragement, so they said: "By His Lord" meaning the One who is good to us and to others.
And when the believer is the one specifically chosen among creation for salvation, he included the conjunction in the response and raised it upon the estimation of a subject, indicating that their salvation is something that must happen. So he said: "So surely" meaning specifically [not] "he fears" originally "loss" meaning deficiency and little and evil and hardship in reward and honor in any way, "nor burden" meaning something disliked that befalls him and overcomes him because he did not do anything with anyone of that to be recompensed for it. This is an encouragement for the believer to avoid that so that he is not recompensed for it, and the context has guided to the estimation: And whoever associates with Him, then surely, he does not feel secure from being punished nor from being struck down.
