And when he mentioned their plotting and what they revealed of their saying, he turned to what the listener would expect from his matter, saying: "And they have led astray" meaning the idols and their worshippers by this worship "many" of [Your servants -] those whom You created upon the sound nature from the people of their time and from those who came after them. For they are the first to establish this evil tradition, so upon them is its burden and the burden of whoever acts by it until the Day of Resurrection.

And when the estimation was: "So do not increase the wrongdoers except in loss," he turned to his saying, making it clear in the place of concealment, generalizing and linking the ruling by the description: "And do not increase the wrongdoers" meaning those firmly established in the description that necessitates that the effects of the one characterized by it are like the effects of one walking in the darkness [in -] their occurrence being disturbed, something from the things that are in them "except in misguidance" meaning a seal upon their minds and hearts until they become blind to the truth and to all their corrupt, misguided, firmly established objectives in misguidance, so that nothing from it would be in a way that there would be something of soundness. This was after Allah, glorified and exalted is He, informed him that none would believe from them except for the one who had already believed. The speech concerning them in every case is like the speech concerning the supplication of Moses and Aaron, blessings and peace be upon them, in the firmness upon [the hearts of] Pharaoh and his elite so that they would not believe in a situation that would benefit them as was mentioned in the Surah of Jonah, peace be upon him. And Ibn Arabi exaggerated in the deviation from the religion, saying in his Fusus: This supplication is good concerning them. And he said: Misguidance is more guiding than guidance, and the misguided is in a better state than the guided, for the misguided is always close to the intended pole, circling around it, while the guided is a companion of a long path, so he is far from the intended goal. Thus, he clarified that Allah, exalted is He, did not create a creation more foolish than him except for the one who follows him and for whoever leans towards the misguidance that no sane person among the idol worshippers would accept, for there is no one more foolish than them or others. So upon them is the severest disgrace and curse.
