Commentary
And when the abundance of leaders was another strength to their strength with the provisions of this world, and the decree was: I commanded them to believe, but they refused, and they commanded them to disbelieve, so they followed them. He turned to it, clarifying their abundance with the plural pronoun referring to 'from', adding to 'he did not increase him' the singular pronoun for the word, gathering it for the meaning to the gathering of the ruling phrase on the singular and the plural. So it would be the most indicative of what is meant by it. He said: 'And they plotted', meaning these leaders in turning the people away from me - and he emphasized the action with the noun indicating strength, so he said: 'a plot', and he further emphasized it with a form that is the ultimate in exaggeration, saying: 'great ones', for it is more eloquent than 'great' in its lighter form, which is more eloquent than 'big'. They did not call anyone among them with that plot to follow me. And they said: [Noah: 23] meaning to them in the ears of [the plot -] that which occurred from them.
