And when the opposites of these mentioned are destructive deficiencies, and the souls, due to their deficiencies, are inclined towards shortcomings and treachery, He, glorified and exalted is He, mentioned the remedy that cures every disease. He said, indicating the preservation of the conditions of prayer and its attributes after mentioning the preservation of their essences and entities, as a reminder of the great importance of it: ﴿And those who are﴾. And when He placed the pronoun in the middle, indicating the turning of the entire heart towards it, He prioritized the connection as He did with what was said, for emphasis and to convey the intended meaning to the utmost extent, as is clear to anyone with taste. He said: ﴿Upon their prayers﴾ of the obligatory and the voluntary ﴿They maintain﴾, meaning they strive in preserving it and renew it until it is as if they hasten to preserve it and compete in it. They preserve it for their preservation or they compete with others in preserving it for its times, conditions, pillars, and complements, in its outward and inward aspects of humility and vigilance, and other qualities of excellence.
