Commentary
And when wealth can be spent for the improvement of this world, it is made clear that the beneficial part of it is only that which affirms faith. So He said: ﴿And those who affirm﴾, meaning they establish the affirmation for those who inform them and renew it at every moment ﴿on the Day﴾. And since the intended purpose is to encourage action for the sake of presentation to the Most High King, this is expressed by His saying: ﴿the Day of Judgment﴾, meaning the recompense which there is nothing like it, and it is the Day of Resurrection in which accountability occurs, and the reckoning is for the smallest of things. The affirmation of it is the true affirmation, which is preparation for it through good deeds. So those who act for that day are the workers, while those who affirm merely with words will have the burden, even if they spend like mountains.
