Commentary
And when He warned them about the corruption that He prohibited them from, and linked their cessation from it to the description of faith, He returned to the part of what He conditioned for ceasing from corruption. He said: "And if a group of you" meaning: a congregation among you in which there is a multitude, so they gather around whoever they want, "has believed in what I have been sent with." He built it for the object to indicate that the doer is known from what has preceded in the context, and that it has become such that no doubt can approach it due to the indications that have been established. "And a group" meaning: among you, "have not believed" meaning: in what He has sent me with, who has supported me with what you have known of the clear signs. And He warned them of His might with His saying: "So be patient" meaning: O two groups, "until Allah judges" meaning: the One who has all greatness, "between us" meaning: between our group by honoring the reformer and destroying the corruptor, as He has made His custom in that. "And He is" meaning: the situation is that He is "the best of judges" because He resolves disputes in the most complete and most just manner.
