And when it was for the generalization after the specification and the detailing after the summarization from the position in the souls what is not hidden, and the prohibition of corruption by blocking the way of Allah is the intended purpose because it prohibits all corruption - He specified it by mentioning as an indication that it is the essence of the intended after the generalization. So He said: ﴿And do not sit﴾ meaning: do not act like the one who is waiting and approaching entirely ﴿on every path﴾ meaning: a way from the ways of this world and religion, of what is lawful and unlawful, and the commands and prohibitions, and the clear and the ambiguous, and the examples (p-462) ﴿threatening﴾ meaning: you threaten whoever walks it with every evil if he does not agree with you on what you want.

And when the path of religion is more important, He specified it by mentioning and said: ﴿and you block﴾ meaning: you cause the blocking on the way of continuity ﴿the way of Allah﴾ meaning: the path of the One to whom belongs all command. And when He mentioned the blocking from it, He mentioned the blocked one and said: ﴿whoever believes in Him﴾ meaning: in Allah, so he walked His path which there is no more upright than it; and when they were not satisfied with the mere blocking by threatening and the like, rather they show the blocked one doubts that mislead him into thinking that he is upon misguidance, He said, adding: ﴿and you seek it to be crooked﴾ meaning: and you seek the way while it is crooked, meaning: you seek its crookedness by throwing doubts and uncertainties just as you say: I want so-and-so to be a king, meaning: I want his kingship. And it has been established in: (Aal 'Imran) that its being in the accusative is more likely, and that his saying ﷺ in the authentic narration: "(Bring me stones to wipe with)" favors its being in the accusative over the verbal noun - and Allah knows best.

And when their actions are a deficiency of the people either in wealth by reduction or in faith and support by blocking, He reminded them that Allah, the Exalted, acted with them contrary to that by increasing after the decrease in a context warning of their uprooting from the face of the earth, and He specified them as a favor over their reduction and deficiency. So He said, adding to His saying: ﴿Worship Allah﴾ [Al-A'raf: 85] and what follows of commands and prohibitions: ﴿And remember when﴾ meaning: at the time ﴿you were few﴾ meaning: in number and support ﴿and He increased you﴾ meaning: He increased your number and your wealth and everything attributed to you, so do not respond to the blessing with its opposite, for the mention of the blessing encourages gratitude.

(p-463) And when He encouraged them by reminding them of the blessing, He warned them by reminding them of the people of punishment and said: ﴿And look how was the end of﴾ meaning: the last of ﴿the corruptors﴾ meaning: in the generality of destruction by types of punishment so that you beware of being afflicted with what afflicted them as He stated in the Surah of: (Hud) since the situation there necessitates elaboration as will come - if Allah, the Exalted, wills.
