Commentary
﴿I convey to you﴾ and he gathered the message; for what has preceded in the story of Noah - blessings and peace be upon him - he said: ﴿Messages of my Lord﴾ meaning: the One who has done good to me by teaching me what I did not know and preparing me for what was not in my account.
And when they had thrown him with the foolishness that is from the instincts of the soul because it is contrary to forbearance and composure, he expressed the content of the negating sentence for him with what necessitates steadfastness. So he said: ﴿And I am for you a sincere advisor﴾ meaning: sincerity has always been one of my attributes, and it is not something I have earned but rather an instinct within me. And you have tested me in it before the message and the appearance of this statement for a long time; and when they said that they suspect his lying - he added to them the attribute of trustworthiness, so he said: ﴿Trustworthy﴾.
