And when there is nothing that befalls the Prophet ﷺ except something very light, as he indicated by the whisper, and it is not established as indicated by the tool of doubt, and he does not seek refuge in Allah except the righteous, it was as if it was said: Do this at the first whisper so that you may be among the righteous. He explained it by saying: ﴿Indeed, those who are righteous﴾ meaning: this description has been granted to them, and its harm has been established for them with the tool of affirmation - unlike what has passed when addressing the Prophet ﷺ individually - and he said: ﴿When a whisper touches them﴾ meaning: a passing touch, as it is a source, and it may be a softening of the word 'whisper' as in 'dead' which means reading 'whisper' as if it is a doer like 'dead' and 'dying', and it may also be a source. This indicates that the devil is circling around them and does not leave them, sometimes his circling affects them so that it may have touched them with a touch that is greater than the whisper; because he has surrounded them from all sides, and sometimes it does not affect them ﴿from the devil﴾ meaning: the one far from mercy, consumed by curse. ﴿They remember﴾ meaning: they have made it a duty for themselves to remember Allah with all that benefits them in that, both in action and in restraint.

And when they are quick to remember, as if nothing of his matter has touched them, he indicated this with the nominal sentence affirming the quickness of sight with the sudden 'when': ﴿So when they are﴾ meaning: by the light of their inner selves ﴿seeing﴾ meaning: their sight is firm, so they do not follow the devil. For the righteous is one who desires and then refrains, and sees and then limits. In this, there is a reminder that whoever persists with the devil has become blind because he is unjust, and the unjust is one who is as if he is in darkness.
