Commentary
And when all of that is among the most astonishing of wonders, His favor is certainly an explanation for their previous turning away from what should not be turned away from. It is a proof that the matter is only in the hands of its Revealer, glorified and exalted is He. His saying: ﴿Whoever Allah leads astray﴾ means: the one who has all the greatness ﴿there is no guide﴾ for him at all ﴿in any way﴾; and when it indicated by the singular that every individual is in His grasp, the intended meaning was: rather, he continues in his misguidance. He then referred to it with the pronoun of the plural to indicate that their gathering does not avail them anything from Allah. So He said: ﴿And He leaves them﴾ meaning: He leaves them in a wretched state, and He expressed it with the preposition to indicate the encompassing nature of His judgment over them. He said: ﴿in their transgression﴾ meaning: their exceeding the limits while they are ﴿wandering blindly﴾ meaning: they are confused and hesitating in misguidance, not knowing a way nor understanding a proof.
