Commentary
And when it was as if it was said: What did he say to him? It was said: He said in response to what he mentioned to himself in this context of strength and power, and he made clear about it from arrogance and pride what indicated that he is among the people of insignificance. He cannot do anything except by the decree of the Almighty, the Compeller, [explicitly stating what is intended by the descent that may lead to descending from a high place in Paradise to a lower place in it] ﴿Get out of it﴾ meaning: Paradise ﴿disgraced﴾ meaning: humiliated, disgraced by what you do. Al-Qatta' said: I disgraced the man: I shamed him. Ibn Faris said: I disgraced him, meaning: I belittled him. ﴿driven away﴾ meaning: distanced, expelled from all that I do not want.
And when he knew part of his condition, the soul longed for the condition of those who followed him. So he said, swearing and affirming by what is rightfully his of complete power and perfect greatness: ﴿Surely, I will fill Hell with you﴾ meaning: with you and your kind and with them ﴿all together﴾ meaning: none of you will escape me. So whoever among you does that has remained upon harm to himself, and I do not care about anything.
