Commentary

And when etiquette and humility of the soul only bring about good; because it is what is befitting for the servants, it has led many of them to eternal happiness. Therefore, He said: ﴿And the sorcerers were thrown﴾ meaning: They were thrown with the fear of Allah and the longing to submit before Him and the humility before Him when they realized that what Musa, peace be upon him, had done was a heavenly matter. Allah, the Most High, confirmed through it that Musa, peace be upon him, is His Messenger. They did not delay after that at all until it was as if they fell down without choice ﴿prostrating﴾ in gratitude to Allah, the Most High, and detaching themselves from disbelief, and it was a sign of the utmost submission. Allah did that with them until it dazzled Pharaoh and his elite and bewildered their minds.
