And when this request was presented in a manner indicating that he was in doubt about his matter, Allah, the Most High, informed that He surprised him by revealing the verse indicating that with the causative 'fa' without delay. He said about the action of Musa, blessings and peace be upon him: "So he threw down his staff." And about His action, glorified and exalted is He: "And behold, it is a clear serpent." That is, it is apparent in its size and the speed of its movement, to the extent that due to its intense appearance, it seems to call out to the people, making its matter clear to them. This clarifies the truthfulness of the one who caused it by his action in all his statements. It has been narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, that it was a hairy serpent with its mouth wide open, between its jaws eighty cubits long. It placed its lower jaw on the ground and its upper jaw on the wall of the palace, then it advanced towards Fir'aun, and he leaped from his throne in fear and caused a commotion. He charged at the people, and they fled, and they cried out, and twenty-five thousand of them died, some killed each other. Fir'aun shouted: O Musa, take it, and I will believe in you. So he took it, and it returned to being a staff.
