Commentary

And when the resurrection for this purpose is one of the greatest perfections, and its absence necessitates deficiency, it caused from both matters an indication and a saying of His command after the news in the beginning of the glorifications: ﴿So glorify﴾, meaning to establish complete glorification free from any blemish of deficiency ﴿in the name of﴾, meaning by reason of your knowledge of the attributes of ﴿your Lord﴾, meaning the Creator and the Sustainer for you and the Benefactor to you with various kinds of goodness ﴿the Great﴾, whose greatness has filled all the realms, and has increased beyond that by what He wills, glorified is He, of that which minds cannot comprehend, especially regarding their saying: He will not bring us back. For indeed, He, glorified and exalted is He, is capable of that; nothing can hinder Him. And He has promised that, and He is truthful in His promise. The absence of resurrection is a deficiency in wisdom due to the injustice of most people. And therein is an indication of abandonment and astonishment at their condition in their insistence on lying and stubbornness, and their endurance in argumentation and corruption. Thus, the end of the surah returns to its beginning by establishing the inevitable reality to negate what has occurred in confusion in the realm of concealment by the causes of deficiency and the possibilities of confusion. So the truth is established, and falsehood is negated, distinguishing between the good-doer and the wrongdoer, the happy and the miserable. So peace is established for the party of the Most Merciful, and destruction is confirmed for the companions of the devil. And His name, the Manifest, appears to every believer and disbeliever. Indeed, in that is a lesson for those of understanding, and Allah is the Guide.
