Commentary
And when it was established that it is the saying of the Messenger who does not speak out of desire, and he negated from him what might confuse him with poetry and divination, and he did not mention what they used to accuse him of regarding magic and dreams, for it is purely habitual and no one doubts it. The surah was intended to establish the truths that may be hidden. He described it in a way that affirms what was intended by its attribution to the Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, saying: ﴿A revelation﴾ [meaning -] in the manner of gradual sending down. He indicated the sending of it to all of creation from the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth by saying: ﴿From the Lord of the worlds﴾, meaning their Creator and Sustainer, with kindness towards them, in a way that each of them understands from this reminder with which He raised them. And glorified is He arranged its structure in a way that is easy for each of them, something that suffices in their guidance through clarity, unlike poetry and divination, for they are understood only by a few among the people, not all of the worlds. Rather, many of the great scholars and their experts might have a poem from the poems of the Arabs read to one of them now, and he does not understand the intended meaning from it, nor does it become clear to him in any way.
