And when the reality of reckoning is the mention of deeds and the recompense for them, and since the human being - because he is created with deficiency - cannot truly estimate Allah as He deserves, the higher a person is, the more the awareness and deficiency of himself increases. And whoever is questioned about the reckoning - as the Prophet blessings and peace be upon him said - will be punished. He said, confirming that whoever sees his state and his record denies having any sin or any shortcoming from it: ﴿Indeed, I thought﴾ meaning on this day, fearing from the evil of my deeds which I know of myself ﴿that I would meet﴾ meaning it is certain for me that I will encounter the One who is the Judge ﴿my reckoning﴾ because I was gathering as I was commanded between fear and hope. So I fear that He will weigh my good deeds against His blessings, and not even the smallest blessing will stand for me, and I will be punished for my evils while I hope for His forgiveness. So He, glorified and exalted is He, fulfilled my hope and secured my fear. I now know that I do not discuss the reckoning; rather, my reckoning is the presentation, which is the easy reckoning, that my deeds are presented and I am not recompensed for my evils and I am rewarded for my good deeds as a favor, mercy, grace, and blessing. And it is possible that the thought in this world expresses certainty, indicating that it is enough for the wise in fear that drives him to act to have the thought of danger. And in it is an indication of self-denial because a person does not cease to have thoughts of doubts that are presented to him and attack him, and it signals that such does not detract from the certainty of belief. It also alerts that it is sufficient in necessitating action to have the thought, and thus it becomes a justification for giving the record in the right hand. And in it is a reproach for the disbelievers and a call upon them that they have not reached in this confirmed matter the level of thought; so how about the confirmed knowledge? They neglected the action for it and opposed.
