Commentary
And when the listener yearned for what was to come after this amazing matter, he said: "If not that..." And the greatness of the kindness was emphasized by the reminder and the form of interaction. So he said: "He was caught up in it," meaning he was caught up in a great understanding that was like a burden of blessing and favor. He intends that it should encompass [the other] - "A blessing," meaning a very great one - "from his Lord," meaning the One who sent him and was kind to him by sending him and refining him for the message and repentance upon him and mercy for him. "Surely, if it were not for this praiseworthy state which Allah has bestowed upon him, he would have been cast away very easily in the wilderness," meaning the desolate land that has no buildings in it nor vegetation, far from humanity when he was cast into it, as was decreed by that from eternity. "And he is," meaning while he is "blameworthy," meaning deserving of blame for the sin.
