And when he negated that their denial was due to a desire that prompted them to that, he negated that they had in that any suspicion of doubt in the reminder [or bias in the mentioned]. And that they were in a state of confidence or assumption of safety in the outcome. He said: "Or do they have [a knowledge of] the unseen?" meaning specifically, "the unseen" which they have learned from the preserved tablet or otherwise. "So they" because of that, "write" meaning what they want from it, so that they would have gained knowledge that this reminder is not from Allah or that they have no grasp over it in denying it. Thus, he has known by this that they have no desire in that which is ordinary nor any suspicion. Rather, their denial is merely the result of corrupt natures, the darkness of souls, empty hopes, and ambitions.
