And when he negated that they have from Him, glorified and exalted is He, any rational or transmitted evidence or a firm covenant regarding this precise arrangement and the most upright methodology, he followed it with what may come from others if there was a change regarding what they claimed, and he said: ﴿Or do they have partners﴾, meaning they legislated for them from the religion a matter and promised them with something upon which they established evidence as we established for our Prophet ﷺ. ﴿Then let them bring their partners﴾, meaning their sayings and actions as we came in support of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with both matters together without any doubt in it. And he recorded against them in the Book a burning and inflaming record that would scorch their hearts, and they would not be able to repel it in any way. Thus, that would be the greatest evidence against them. He said: ﴿If they are﴾, meaning by nature and disposition, ﴿truthful﴾, meaning deeply rooted in this description as they claim. And when he negated all their doubts that they could cling to along with the clarification of his ability to do what he wills from the opening of evidence and the splitting of proofs that indicate the completeness of the necessary knowledge from him, which is the perfection of ability, he brought them from the clarity of the matter to a limit where nothing remained with them except stubbornness. He followed that by threatening them with what establishes his ability over them on the Day of Judgment and his dealing with them therein with justice. He said:
