Commentary

So it became. This means that it was caused by this group that the All-Powerful sent, who does not become heedless or sleep regarding the outcome of one who remains a captive of weakness or sleep, whether in action or in power. Their paradise became at the time of their harvesting it tomorrow, and their joy in it is like the harvest that has been cut off from its fruit, or like the thing that has been severed between it and its intended goal, so there is no way to reach it. It is said to be like the dark, black night, and it is said to be like black ash, with no fruit in it. This is because that group destroyed it and left nothing in it, as they sought everything and did not purify it with what would protect it from calamities, contrary to what was for their father from the fruit of his righteous deeds, which was the protection of his wealth and the blessing in all his affairs.
