Commentary
And when He, glorified and exalted is He, informed about His preparation of punishment for them specifically, He also informed about His preparation for every worker according to their deeds in a manner they have included themselves in it. He said, urging to be grateful in His great vengeance, which is outside of the norm in not ceasing, as it is not by sword nor stick, nor by whip or the like, but the fire that is outside of the norm in not ceasing. And for the one being punished, there is no way out from it nor hope. Rather, the longer time passes, the more it receives him with severity and extension. What a wretched gathering for blame in every vengeance along with humiliation and contempt. And for those who disbelieved, meaning those who covered the truth that should appear and be declared of submission to Allah, He said, diverting the saying from the station of greatness to the attribute of specific kindness in nurturing, alerting to what is in denying it of great disbelief: 'their Lord' meaning the One who alone created them and did good to them, so they denied His creation for them after death, and that is disbelief from them regarding what they witnessed of His bringing them forth from non-existence. 'The punishment of Hell' meaning the fiery level that meets them with frowning, scowling, and anger. And when the decree was: it is their destination, He said indicating their lack of escape from it at all, eternally and forever: 'and wretched is the destination' meaning it.
