And when they sometimes distanced themselves from the earthquake, and they were accustomed to what descends from the sky of dew, rain, and thunderbolts, His saying is just in that: "Or do you feel secure" meaning, O you who deny. And He repeated to them the mention of what they fear, as an increase in intimidation, saying: "Who is in the heaven" in two possible interpretations: "to send upon you" meaning from the heaven "a hail" meaning [stones] that will strike you - meaning that He will throw you with it along with a violent wind with its strength, as occurred to the people of Lot and the companions of the elephant.

And when this speech is a great warning and a severe admonition, and their state at that time was wavering between acceptance and rejection, it caused, based on the assumption of their rejection due to their persistence in what is inherent to humans of deficiency, His saying threatening with what cuts the hearts. And He directed the speech to the position of speaking, indicating the intensification of anger: "So you will soon know" meaning soon with a promise that there is no contradiction in it in this world and then in the Hereafter.

And when knowledge of the nature of a thing is greater than knowledge of the mere existence of that thing, because knowledge of it necessitates knowledge of the mere existence of that thing, and what is (p-250) in such a way that he asks about it can only be great, He said: "How is my warning" meaning my severe warning when you witness the punishment, and it is in a way that cannot be endured, and hopes do not attach to revealing it nor to defense. And the 'ya' was omitted from it [and from "Nakir"] indicating that although it is outside the paths, its destined limit is not reached, rather there is more with it, and there is no end to it in any way nor limitation.
