Commentary
And when the fear is from the hidden actions, and everyone claims that he fears Allah, he said, warning them with his knowledge and urging them to be mindful of Him so that they do not become deceived by His forbearance, adding to what necessitates the obligation of mindfulness: So they concealed their actions and displayed them: ﴿And conceal﴾ meaning, O creatures.
And when the specification of the genus indicates both its fewness and its abundance, he said: ﴿Your saying﴾ (p-243) meaning whether it is good or evil ﴿or proclaim it﴾ for indeed He knows it and will reward you for it, because His knowledge does not require a cause. This is because the polytheists used to say: Conceal it, otherwise the God of Muhammad will hear it: Then he explained that, affirming for the sake of what the people have of distancing that by saying: ﴿Indeed﴾ meaning your Lord ﴿is All-Knowing﴾ meaning possessing profound knowledge ﴿of what is in the breasts﴾ meaning of its reality, essence, state, and nature, and what arises from it, whether it is something that they have imagined and have not expressed, or something that they have not yet imagined, as evidenced by what He informs, glorified and exalted is He, about them of what has occurred while they conceal it, or has not yet occurred and then occurs as He has informed, glorified and exalted is He.
