Commentary
And when he knew from this that the one who reproaches is the one who informs, and from his growth, it could be that the number indicated that he is one, so the reproachers are two. Their hearts had expanded for what comes from Allah of desires. By this reproach regarding this very hidden matter and the generosity towards them in not being exhaustive, their hearts inclined towards the high matters and delved into the great knowledge. They shaped from the jewels of that the subtle meanings. The address turned to them with the gentle words of the servants - for the noble one of the record. He said, honoring him ﷺ by turning towards his wives, may Allah be pleased with them, with reproach for his sake, standing away from him regarding what might disturb him if he were to confront it, preserving his noble heart from what might deceive him. "If you both repent," meaning, O Aisha and O Hafsa, from what Hafsa did by disclosing and Aisha by scheming to prevent the drinking of honey and swearing against Maria. "To Allah," meaning the King whose knowledge encompasses all, so His power is exalted, and He was gentle with them for the sake of him ﷺ, the utmost gentleness in His saying: "Then your hearts have inclined," meaning they have leaned and inclined with what they have shaped. "Your hearts," and in the plural of hearts, there is a multitude, emphasizing what I understood from the inclination of the heart due to the abundance of knowledge that was revealed to them by the manifestation of this secret and the reproach upon it from shyness. They became deserving of hastening to repentance, fully qualified for that utmost qualification.
And when he brought forth what they had become realities with, using the tool of doubt to establish for the listener between fear and hope from that, and he knows better than what is, he completed that by mentioning the aspect of fear. He said, informing that the King and His allies are supporters for him. "And if they conspire," with the emphasis on the merging in the reading of the congregation, for the consideration here, if it occurs, was on the face of the concealment in the works of the scheme regarding Maria, may Allah be pleased with her, and the honey, and what comes from like that which provokes jealousy against him ﷺ, the Prophet who was informed by Allah of what elevates his status and raises his mention. The reading of the Kufans with the lightening by dropping one of the two 't's indicates the ease of this conspiracy and its little harm to him ﷺ.
And when the meaning was as if he did not care about the conspiracy, as he expressed it by its cause, he said, affirming, informing that the state of those who conspire against him is the state of the denier of the content of the speech: "Then indeed Allah," meaning the greatest King who has no equal, "He is," meaning by Himself, the most sacred and the presence of the hidden of His hidden, which nothing can stand before due to its greatness. "His supporter," meaning his helper and the one who takes care of his command, what the close friend, the capable one, takes care of. And everyone who has understanding knows his sufficiency, glorified is He in that. He acts in the most eloquent manner that a supporter can act with one who is in charge of his affair. In his assistance to his Prophet ﷺ, there is a manifestation of his honor, consideration for preserving his heart, and an expansion of his chest.
And when the souls were, for the construction of this abode, based on the wisdom of causes, looking at it with complete observation, and the wives of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, due to the abundance of what is recited in their homes from the verses of Allah and wisdom through the tongue of Jibril, may peace be upon him, and the frequent visits of him to the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, in their homes, and teaching them, it had thus become for them one of the apparent and familiar causes. And he was the greatest supporter of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, he said: "And Jibril" because he is one of the greatest causes that Allah, glorified and exalted is He, establishes.
And when the one who supports him, blessings and peace be upon him, in all that faith desires, then whatever a person is in, it is more intense in support and assistance. He said: "And the righteous among the believers" meaning those firmly established in the rank of faith and righteousness from among humans and jinn, and their two fathers, may Allah be pleased with them, are the greatest intention behind this. It has been narrated that Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him: "If you had commanded me, I would have struck its neck." And although the term "righteous" is singular, its meaning encompasses the collective, as it is for the generality. This is indicated by the context, which adds to the collective. Perhaps he expressed it in the singular while the intended meaning is to indicate the scarcity of those who possess this trait, very much due to the scarcity of those firmly established in faith and the scarcity of those firmly established in righteousness among those firmly established in faith, so it is few among the few. And some of them have allowed that it could be plural and that its waw was omitted in the writing contrary to the norm, and it is omitted in connection due to the meeting of two consonants. Thus, he thought it was singular, and included in that is Jibril, may peace be upon him, as well.
And when Allah, glorified and exalted is He, had given the angels powers and the ability to act in the apparent and the hidden that surpasses description, He said, in glorification of the station after glorifying it by what He mentioned of the chief of the Cherubim, blessings and peace be upon him, "And the angels," meaning all of them, and among them is Gabriel, blessings and peace be upon him, who is mentioned specifically and generally three times, to show the intensity of his love and support for the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. And when the intention was to generalize in time and place after generalizing among the righteous from the angels, humans, and jinn, He said without a preposition, glorifying the support of the angels for what they have of greatness in the hearts due to what has been established for those who have encountered some of them the punishment at times by the quake, and at other times by the shock, and at times by the sinking, and at other times by other than that. So how if the human, who is bound by the tangible, imagines their gathering upon what they have of terrifying forms? "After that," meaning the great matter which has been previously mentioned, which is the support of Allah and those mentioned with Him, "a supporter," He informed about the gathering by the name of the genus, indicating that they are united in support. Thus, He frightened with all of this for the sake of the return, kindly towards him, blessings and peace be upon him, and to show his greatness. And in the story of the companion of Yasin, He said, "And We did not send down upon his people" [Yasin: 28], as a belittlement of his people and an insult to them. And it is permissible that "a supporter" is the news of Gabriel, blessings and peace be upon him, and the news that follows it is omitted due to its indication of him, meaning likewise.
