(p-179) Surah Al-Tahrim, and it is called the Surah of the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him). Its aim is to encourage the consideration of proper conduct with Allah, with His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him), and with all of the servants, and to urge the cultivation of proper moral character, especially for women, following the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) in his good companionship and noble companionship. It clarifies that proper conduct can sometimes be through gentleness and patience, at other times through the whip and similar means, and at times through the sword and what is associated with it. Each of its names, Al-Tahrim and the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), clarifies this. And a jar of honey had been gifted to Hafsah bint Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, so when he entered [upon her and greeted her], she would keep him and give him from it. And Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, disapproved of his staying with her, so she said to Juwayriya, who was a black woman with her, named Khasra: When the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, enters upon Hafsah, then enter upon her and see what he does. So she informed her of the news, and she instructed her companions, and they made him dislike drinking it by informing him that there was an unpleasant smell from it because a bee had buzzed over the jar. So he said, 'I will not return to it.'" And Al-Tabari and Ibn Marduyah narrated, "He, blessings and peace be upon him, secluded himself with Maria, may Allah be pleased with her, the mother of his son Ibrahim, peace be upon him, in Hafsah's house, may Allah be pleased with her. So Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with her, was distressed by that, so he said, 'She is [for me] forbidden, and do not mention that to anyone. And I give you glad tidings regarding that, which is that Abu Bakr will take over this matter after me, and your father will take over after Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with them both. Do not inform anyone of that.' So she informed Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her.\

It is narrated that Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with her, said on her day with the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him: "Indeed, I have a need for a provision from my father, so grant me permission to visit him and bring it back." He granted her permission, and when she left, he sent to his maid, Maria the Copt, may Allah be pleased with her, and he had relations with her. Hafsah came and found the door closed, so she sat by him. Then the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, came out, and his face was dripping with sweat, and Hafsah was crying. He said to her: "What is making you cry?" She said: "I only asked for permission for this, and I found her on my day and on my bed. Did you not see that I have a sanctity and a right? You would not do this with any of them." He, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "Is she not my maid whom Allah has made lawful for me? Be silent, for she is forbidden to me. I seek by this your pleasure, so do not inform anyone of this." When he left, she informed Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, and she swore him to abandon Maria, may Allah be pleased with them." Then he, glorified and exalted is He, explained that by saying: ﴿You seek﴾ [meaning] you desire a great intention from the noble qualities of your character and the goodness of your companionship ﴿the pleasure of your wives﴾ meaning the conditions, places, and matters that they are pleased with. Who is more deserving that you seek their pleasure than all of creation, so that you may dedicate yourself to what is revealed to you from your Lord? But this is more emphasized for the wives.

And when the highest thing that can prevent things from the servants is faith, and He, the Exalted, has made from His mercy for His servants for their faith expiation, He said: ﴿And Allah﴾ meaning you do that for their pleasure, while Allah, the Most High King ﴿is Forgiving and Merciful﴾ meaning He is one who erases and conceals what is difficult for His chosen servants and is generous to them.
