And He provides for him by His might and power by bringing forth the means in religion, this world, and the Hereafter, in a manner similar to what he has brought forth from the performance of the commands.

And when the sweetest gifts are those that come from a place that is not hoped for, He said: "From where he does not expect." This means that his hope for it is not strong. And He confirmed this and magnified the promise because, although it is general for every pious person, its connection to what has preceded is stronger. The consideration of what has preceded regarding the rights of the servants is greater, the pressure in it is more intense, and the motivations towards it are more compelling. And whoever does not rely (on Allah) will not benefit from that, and his pain increases, and his distress prolongs due to his intense striving and the disappointment of the means he believes to be successful. So whoever is pleased, for him is pleasure, and whoever is displeased, for him is displeasure. The pen has dried, so nothing is added to the measures nor is anything taken away from them. It is narrated that a man came to Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: Grant me from what Allah has granted you. He said: Do you read the Qur'an? He said: No. He said: We do not appoint one who does not read the Qur'an. The man turned away and exerted himself until he learned the Qur'an, hoping to return to Umar and be appointed by him. When he learned the Qur'an, he lagged behind Umar, and one day Umar saw him and said: O this! Have you abandoned us? He said: O Commander of the Believers! I am not one who abandons. But I learned the Qur'an, and Allah has made me independent of Umar and the door of Umar. He said: Which verse has made you independent? He said: His saying, the Exalted: ﴿And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out﴾ [At-Talaq: 2] ﴿And will provide for him from where he does not expect﴾. It ends here. And whoever relies on others besides Him, glorified and exalted is He, will be lost because he does not know the benefits, and even if he knows them, he does not know where they are.
