Commentary

And when he informed of that, he explained it with what is the case for every king, so how about the One who is unique in His dominion. He said: "He is" meaning the One who has been established as the possessor of the attributes of beauty and majesty alone, without having a partner or minister. "The One who sent" with what He has of power and will, "His Messenger" meaning the one who is truly deserving of being honored by everyone who receives his message, because his greatness is from His greatness. The purpose of mentioning the preposition of purpose is an indication of the generality of the sending to all whom the king encompasses, as has been mentioned. "With guidance" meaning the clear explanation, "and the religion of truth" meaning the king whose stability cannot be matched by any other stability. There is no stability for others, so the stability of this religion is by His stability. It is permissible that the meaning is: and the religion which is the established truth in its complete reality, which has a perfection that is not found in others. Thus, it would be from the addition of the described to its attribute, indicating the intensity of its intertwining with it. "To make it prevail" meaning to elevate it along with its fame and the humiliation of the opponent. "Over the religion" meaning the type of legislation which makes it so that He rewards those who follow it and punishes those who deviate from it. By it, He legislates the rulings. "All of it" so that no religion remains except that it is beneath it and is obliterated by it, and its people are humbled to a humiliation that cannot be compared to any other humiliation. "Even if the polytheists dislike" meaning its manifestation. "The polytheists" meaning those who are obstinate in their disbelief, firmly entrenched in that obstinacy. The greatest intention behind this is the people of obstinacy with the innovation of unity. For they have left nothing besides it until they associated partners with Him - exalted is Allah above what they say, high above all. And they, despite their distance from the truth of their beliefs and their corruption from illusions and their contradiction to all narrations, are in the utmost of abundance regarding the fate of the people towards what Allah and His Messenger promised - and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth - that most of them have broken their covenants and their trusts have become hidden, and they have become like chaff, like the chaff of dates, which Allah does not care about. However, they, despite their multitude, are encompassed by what this verse contains in its like, in the utmost of humiliation. And to Allah belongs all praise; there is no honor for them except by manifesting adherence to the Book and the Sunnah, and they know that they are lying in this claim because they are in the utmost contradiction to both of them, in that they believe that they are associating partners by affirming for Allah - glorified and exalted is He - an existence that contradicts the existence of creation. And they say, in defiance of the necessity, that existence is one and that there is no existent, apparent or hidden, besides Him. And for this reason, they named existence by Him. Then their knowledge of their humiliation does not deter them, and that there is no honor for them except by the protection of the Shari'ah from their misguidance. So I was amazed at that and turned to Allah - glorified and exalted is He - asking for safety, for indeed the hearts are in the hands of Allah; He turns them as He wills. And He struck them with humiliation, despite their multitude, in the utmost of evidence of Allah - glorified is He - because the complete king does not allow anyone to attack His dominion and strive to reject His message and insult His messengers. And indeed, He has fulfilled much of what He promised, as it has been indicated - for He has prevailed over the strongest of kings among the emperors and the kings - over the ability of the remaining ones. And that is because when His people hesitated in supporting Him and volunteered to deny Him and denied what they witnessed of His truthfulness, Allah facilitated for Him supporters from His nation, who are the leaders of tribes, the best of the virtuous, and the masters of the noble. They reached the utmost hope in supporting Him.
