Commentary

And when He mentioned what He has bestowed upon him in the Hereafter, because it is more important for its permanence, the estimation is by what the conjunction indicates: This is for you, a conjunction to what He has made for them in this world. And He said: ﴿And another﴾ meaning, for you is another blessing, or He will give you, or He will increase you with another blessing. And when man is more beloved in the immediate and more joyful with the immediate, He said: ﴿You love it﴾ meaning, a great and renewed love, increasing. So, in the apparent meaning of this glad tidings, there is an encouragement towards jihad and an endearment, and in its deeper meaning, there is an urging towards [the love of] martyrdom by what it indicates of reprimand, also concerning the resolution of the immediate and the reproach: ﴿Victory from Allah﴾ meaning, the One whose greatness encompasses everything is for you, and according to the extent of His encompassing, will be His support. ﴿And a near opening﴾ meaning, you will enter through it to [everything] that was difficult for you from the fortresses of your enemies and other matters of theirs in the life of your Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. The greatest of it is the opening of Mecca, for which Hatib, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote because of it, and after his death, and therein is a testimony for Hatib, may Allah be pleased with him, that he loves the support of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, and the opening of Mecca and others for the correctness of his faith, as the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, informed about it, who does not speak out of desire.

And when what preceded of the admonition was a warning for those whose actions contradicted their words from among the believers, and the situation had taken its share of warning and reprimand, He concealed what its estimation is: So He warned those who were not firmly rooted in the religion from among the hypocrites, and those whose actions contradicted their words from among the believers. He added to it a sign for it to be [more impactful] in the soul for whoever is indicated by its concealment. His saying: ﴿And give glad tidings to the believers﴾ meaning, those for whom faith has become a firmly established description, like Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah will open for you the lands east and west, and the first of that is the honored Mecca, and He does not require them to defend their tribes and their wealth, nor that anything from their actions contradicts anything from their words.
