Commentary
And when all of this was produced, the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, was victorious in every situation and destruction of those who oppose his command. It is certainly established that jihad with him is a profitable trade because victory is guaranteed, and death is an inevitable source that one must reach, whether a person engages in peril or takes precautions in the constructed palaces. So He, glorified and exalted is He, said in the style of calling and questioning, for it is more magnificent and more compelling with the tool that cannot be followed by anything but great significance: 'O you who have believed,' meaning those who said [in their acknowledgment of faith] what they must do according to its requirements. 'Should I guide you?' And I am the one who is fully aware in knowledge and ability. This is an obligation in meaning mentioned with the wording of questioning to be more impactful in the soul so that it is more readily accepted. The verse is also a result of what has passed in another consideration because when He reproached them for the weakening of their resolve and informed them of what is required of fighting, and admonished them for the harm to the Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, by opposing him, and informed that whoever opposes him does not harm anyone but himself, the place of eagerness for obedience to him was established. Thus, He arranged for them the longing to mention its fruits, so He mentioned them. And when the action of Hatib, may Allah be pleased with him, was for the sake of the fact that his people who were in Mecca had no success in themselves nor in anything of their wealth, and this was in the meaning of trade, He said: 'For a trade.' And the reading of Ibn 'Amir, 'will save you,' with emphasis is more appropriate for this context than the reading of the congregation with the lightening. And the reading of the congregation is more suitable for the intention of Hatib, may Allah be pleased with him, 'from a painful punishment,' by achieving success in the soul or wealth.
