And when he mentioned what he commanded his Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, regarding the pledges after he counted those who believed as a basis in the trial of the emigrants, it was known from that that the allegiance of women, although there is no harm in them regarding fighting and the like, is only permissible after knowing their faith. The conclusion with the attributes of forgiveness and mercy was what encouraged him to favor the believers over some of the disbelievers, whether they are spouses or others, due to kinship or other reasons, for a reason that the husband may present or other matters. He, glorified and exalted is He, repeated the command of disassociation from every enemy, responding to the end of the surah with its beginning, affirming the avoidance of them and repulsion from their allegiance, as the verse of the pledge and the verse of the trial made clear. And it is permissible that it may be from the beginning, so the meaning would be: just as the idol worshippers have despaired of meeting those who have died, and were buried with the belief that there is no gathering between them at all, because it is not possible to resurrect him either to this world or to the Hereafter, since they do not believe in the Hereafter at all, especially if he is buried in a grave. And on this basis, the apparent meaning is placed in the position of the implied to indicate that what has caused their despair is the covering of the proofs along with their clarity if they were to be just. So do not support one who has this attribute, for there will be between you and him what is between a close one and his close one from the support of each of them for the other, as the close friend supports his close one. For indeed, their support is a harm with no benefit in it. For whoever the king has become angry with, the witness of all his movements and stillness, he will not succeed, nor will those who support him. And the least of what is in his guardianship of harm is that the assistance in it will be cut off, and the participation in death, even if after death, is a participation in the everlasting, continuous punishment that does not cease from them and the necessary disgrace. And it has been known that this latter is the first of it, and this connector is its detailed explanation. So glorified is He who has revealed it, an unparalleled, wise Book, and a concise, comprehensive, great Qur'an.
