And when Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - had risen to manifest the proof of Allah in monotheism and to defend it, and the estimation was - as a reminder for the listener of the goodness of what has passed, urging him to reflect - this is the statement of Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - to his father and his people. He began by mentioning the aspects of His blessings upon him and His kindness towards him, indicating the establishment of prophethood after the establishment of oneness: ﴿And this﴾ meaning: and this great proof which we have recited to you, and it is what Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - used to argue with his people. He magnified it by magnifying it and said: ﴿Our proof﴾ meaning: that which is rightful to be attributed to us - due to what is in it of guidance - because it is among the noblest of blessings and the greatest of gifts ﴿We gave it﴾ meaning: by virtue of our greatness ﴿to Ibrahim﴾ and we made him aware of its reality and enlightened him with it, and he indicated the elevation of its status with the tool of exaltation, implying (We gave) (We established). He said: ﴿over his people﴾ meaning: being exalted over them, having established the proof which he set up against them. Then he increased in informing of his favor by saying, resuming: ﴿We raise﴾ meaning: by our greatness ﴿degrees of whom We will﴾ by what we have of power over that, just as we raised the degree of Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - over all the people of that era.

And when his argument with them was based on the law of wisdom in the higher world to which they attributed creation and management by light and darkness, and at the conclusion of his argument with them that the ongoing law of wisdom is that the true king does not dishonor his soldiers, so there is no fear for them. And before that, in the proof of resurrection, which is the focus of wisdom; it was more appropriate for him to present in the conclusion of the verse the description of wisdom. He said: ﴿Indeed, your Lord﴾ meaning: specifically addressing His Prophet ﷺ by the name of kindness, as a reminder that His withholding of the proof from whom He wills is for wisdom He intends - glorified and exalted is He - and in it is a consolation for him ﷺ ﴿Wise﴾ meaning: He does not act with His party except what His intimate friend ﷺ has thought good for them, whether in this world or in the Hereafter or in both ﴿All-Knowing﴾ so that no one from among them is confused to Him, and He acts with what is permissible by wisdom.
