Commentary

And when it was as if it was said: 'We made Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - see this insight in this bold matter of the falsehood of the idols,' he said, adding to it: 'And likewise,' meaning: and similar to this great insight, and he narrated the past state by saying: 'We show,' meaning: with sight and insight over the passage of time and the recurrence of months and years to what has no end for himself and the righteous among his offspring. 'Ibrahim has dominion,' meaning: the inner kingdom of monotheism, so he knows that everyone who worships other than Allah, whether from an idol or others among his people and others, is in misguidance, just as he knew that about his people regarding the idols. 'And to be among the certain,' meaning: those firmly established in the description of certainty regarding the matter of monotheism as a whole in relation to all particulars for what We showed him with his sight and insight. So he contemplated it until he reached after the knowledge of certainty to the eye of certainty, rather to the truth of certainty.
